We make the first visit easy

From your first text to your first cleaning, we handle the details so you can just show up and relax.

No paperwork at the office

Once we book your visit, we'll text you a secure link. Fill out everything on your phone, on your own time. When you walk in, we're ready for you.

How your first visit works

  1. You book a visit. Call us at (808) 671-5555 or send a request through our form. We'll confirm a date and time that works for you.
  2. We text you a link. A few days before your visit, you'll get a text with a link to your new-patient paperwork. Tap, fill out, submit. About 10 minutes.
  3. You show up. Bring your insurance card (if you have one) and a photo ID. We'll greet you, walk you back, and get started.
  4. Your visit. Most first visits include a checkup, X-rays, and a cleaning. Plan on about an hour. We'll talk through anything we see and lay out a plan with you.
  5. You leave with a plan. No surprise charges. We'll explain what (if anything) you need next, schedule the follow-up, and you're out.

What to bring

  • Your insurance card (if you have dental insurance)
  • A photo ID
  • A list of any medications you take regularly
  • Names of any other doctors or specialists involved in your care, if relevant
  • Yourself, on time. That's the main thing.

Don't have dental insurance? No problem. We have an in-house Smile Plan that covers cleanings, exams, and a discount on treatment for one yearly fee. Many patients save more on the Smile Plan than they would on traditional insurance.

Insurance and payment

Insurance we accept

We accept most major PPO dental insurance plans. If you're not sure whether we take yours, call the front desk and we'll check for you.

If you don't have insurance

Three options that work for most patients:

  • Smile Plan — our in-house membership. 2 cleanings, 2 checkups, a full-mouth X-ray, and a member discount on other treatment, all for one yearly fee.
  • HSA and FSA — we accept both for eligible treatments.
  • Third-party financing through CareCredit, Alphaeon, and Cherry. Spreads bigger treatment costs over months or years.

What you'll be charged

Before any treatment beyond a routine visit, we give you a clear total in writing. No surprise charges. You decide whether to move forward.

Forms and paperwork

New patients fill out three things, all through the text link we send before your first visit:

  • Medical and dental history so we know your background before we start.
  • Insurance information if you have a plan.
  • Patient Consent for Use and Disclosure required by HIPAA. This explains how we may use your information and asks for your written permission.

It all takes about 10 minutes on your phone. If you'd rather fill out paper forms in the office, we can do that too. Just let us know when you book.

Cancellation and rescheduling

Life happens. If you need to reschedule, give us at least 48 hours' notice so we can offer your spot to someone else. A text or a call works.

Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice (or no-shows) are subject to a $50 fee. Communication is the easiest way to avoid it, so let us know as soon as you can if your plans change.

Languages we speak

Our team is comfortable speaking with patients in any of these languages:

  • English
  • Tagalog
  • Kapampangan
  • Ilocano
  • Japanese
  • Vietnamese

If you'd prefer to be helped in one of these, just let us know when you call or fill out the appointment form.

Your privacy

We take HIPAA seriously. Your medical, dental, and personal information is protected and only used as needed for your care, billing, and the operation of the practice.

Full details on how we use your information are in our Privacy Policy and our Notice of Privacy Practices, which you'll receive as part of your new-patient paperwork. If you have questions, ask the front desk or call us at (808) 671-5555.

Common questions

How do I book my first visit?

Call us at (808) 671-5555 or fill out the appointment request form. We'll get back to you the same business day.

How early should I arrive?

If you filled out your paperwork from the text link, just show up at your appointment time. If you'd rather fill out forms in the office, plan to arrive 15 minutes early.

Where do I park?

The first floor of our building is free patient parking. Take the elevator up to Suite 301 on the third floor, where our practice is located. (The second floor is currently under construction as we expand, see below.)

Are you expanding?

Yes! Our second floor is under construction. When it opens, we'll have multiple new operatories in addition to our current third-floor space, so we can see more families and reduce wait times. We'll announce the opening on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok (@smiledentalcenterinc) when it's ready.

Can I bring my kids?

Yes. We see families together all the time. If you have other kids who aren't being seen, you're welcome to bring them, but we'd recommend a second adult to help out so you can focus on the patient in the chair.

What if I'm anxious about the dentist?

You're not alone — a lot of our patients tell us they used to dread the dentist. We work at your pace, explain everything we're doing, and check in with you the whole way through. Tell the front desk when you arrive and we'll be extra mindful.

What if it's an emergency?

Don't wait. Call us at (808) 671-5555 right away, or see our dental emergency page for guidance.
